Since 1975, Main Stream Canoes and Kayaks has served outdoor enthusiasts in Northwest Connecticut. We are ideally situated on the wild and scenic Farmington River, where no one can beat our locale or ability to conveniently transport customers to various points of departure and pick-up.

Our river trips vary from 6 to 12 miles and the two lake outings feature a family recreational area with food amenities or a tranquil getaway where paddler’s can relax or angler’s will enjoy some challenging fishing. Small and large groups can have special outings created to meet their needs.

Current owner Tim Sullivan is a 30-year resident of Barkhamsted who has served his community as a volunteer firefighter, ambulance driver and town commission member. He is one among many area business owners and non-profits committed to preserving the Farmington River and its wild and scenic designation.

Tim recently added more staff at Main Stream and also updated the boating and safety equipment, shop, and paddle shack areas. In 2021, there are plans to expand the company’s paddling opportunities elsewhere in Connecticut.
